us inside the blue mosque in istanbul. women wear scarves covering their heads inside mosques and everyone must leave their shoes outside (though this mosque is so commonly toured that you carry your shoes through with you so that everyone can move in one direction). this scarf was brought from home, and all the women in our group had their own scarves, but most mosques have scarves to borrow for women who didn’t bring one. you can also see part of the large hanging chandelier (which originally held many candles) common to all mosques we visited.
