you can see the high point of the water above the hoover dam (where the rock is white from the calcium in the river) and how much lower the water it is than that. our guide told us there has been a drought for over 10 years which is why the water is so low. the two towers in this picture are the intake towers on the arizona side, which is half of where the water comes into the dam to run through generator turbines and continue downstream.
