this was originally going to be a t-shirt, but i never got around to doing that.  the nintendo controller is modelled after the real thing, and the "oldskool" logo is built after playskool.  this is all hand-drawn with the shape tool except for the text.  i think i found a font for "start," "select," and "nintendo," and "oldskool" is actually a modified scan of the playskool logo.  i'm was hoping to find a white ringer with either red or light blue accents to put this thing on.  screen printing would of course be cooler, but there are just too many colors and i only wanted one shirt.

i can't remember why i decided to make this--maybe it was just for use as an avatar when i post on message boards--but here it is.  i used my old compeye simplex scanner (since it has 3d-scanning capabilities) on some lego guys to get yellow and black for the top as well as white, grey, and black pants.  i also scanned the seat-belt buckle from a certain belt i have.  all these pieces were put together freehand using paint shop pro, and then i added a shadow and smoothed out the edges using a couple filters.  the background is simply one of the default fill patterns greatly magnified so that it wouldn't repeat.  the icon for the analog underground actually comes from this image.

this was an assignment for the ethnic art class i had my last semester of college . . . well sort of.  the original was colored so it looked like a green celtic trinity knot on a brown background.  it was rather heavily mosiaced (if that's the right word) with a 9 x 9 grid and 4 different colorations between brown and green.  i think i had 4 circuit boards for this, and i scanned them in using that same compeye simplex scanner (for its 3d capabilites).  then i just started grabbing square images from them and tiling out this design.  i greyscaled the whole thing and then colorized grid squares artificially since i couldn't find good circuit board colors. i think i ended up with a B in the class overall, not that it really matters.  i think this version of the image is darkened a bit, and i've greyscaled the whole thing.  it makes a nice geeky tiled desktop background!
